Hello again, everyone!
First off, I just want to say that I'm honoured to participate in another collaboration with Violet Delta and these other awesome artists. As for the song itself, "Gensokyo, Past and Present" had always been a favourite of mine, so it was an easy choice.
Structurally, the overall track was inspired by, believe it or not,"Copied City" from NieR: Automata (specifically with how it handled layering all these different parts). With regards to the tone and feel, I had this image in mind of what a danmaku battle would be like-- blasting through the skies, and the precision, breakneck manoeuvers you'd have to do to try and dodge attacks. I wanted to try and convey that fluidity of movement musically, but still keep a feel of whimsy.
The inclusion of "Theme of Eastern Story" was kind of an in-joke, in that we have a song from the PC-98 era, with a song from the Windows era-- literally, a case of "Gensokyo, Past and Present."
